Christians and Non-Christians
Ya know, non-Christians have weird ideas of what it means to be Christians. I, of course, blame Christians. However, Christians also have a weirdass idea of what it means to be Christians. Hell, I am still gonna blame Christians.First off: Non-Christians. We have too many non-Christians who will simply believe that Christianity is about a shitlaod of rules and standing on street corners harassing people. Hell, someone recently got PISSED OFF AT ME because I wouldn't start spouting stupidity and harassing him. I was being a reasonable Christian, and he's not used to that. He was asking me questions to which I had no answer, and said this. (Asking about why I believe God exists, the problem with that, is my usually, "I've seen too much to say He does to believe He doesn't. But this wont convince you since you've set your heart against it" Well, I don't usually say the second sentence). But, in the end, people want Christians to be stupid, because we're portrayed that way. Christians are not - generally - crazy people on the street corner handing you leaflets. You see a few of these ever so often, but seriously guys, most of us are not that.
At the same time, even if someone is cool with making jokes and doesn't mind a joke or two about Christianity as long as it is funny, it's still not in good taste to spend half an hour doing nothing but and trying to get the Christian to listen.
At the same time, I think Christians too often bring the issue to themselves. The concept of someone saying that their life being influenced by Christianity amounts to "I don't swear" makes me really sad. Seriously, Christianity is all about a danger, about diving into things. About fighting the good fight. But - of course - we get people who get angry at every little infraction of the rules of the day, or drinking, or whatever else people get angry about. And yet - people - don't realize that there are non-Christians doing this too. Of course, more Christians do it - but why? I am looked at funny for going to a rave, until I go there and have a conversation about how, often, it's the people in the world who are being destroyed by drugs or whatnot - whom you can't meet in the "Christian Bubble" - that Christians are here to help. Then I make Christians happy that I went. YEESH people, you need to see evil and help to heal its pain, not hide from it like children. We are God's people, we are not unprotected.
