God and 52 Pickup
Atheism. God. And 52 Pickup. They're all related in the great web of life.See - people have told me too many times that they don't believe in God because "He lets people die", "He lets people go hungry", or "He lets wars [or the Holocaust] happen". Sorry but those ideas aren't that great. Firstly theologically I've always found them the equivalent of kicking and screaming. But a joke by a friend of mine recently make me have a new appreciation for the concept.See - God doesn't play 52 pickup. Sometimes we throw the cards into the air and say "PSYCH! HEY GOD 52 PICKUP TIME" and then expect Him to pick the damn cards up. "HEY LOOK I JUST STARTED THROWING AROUND NUKES - PSYCH!". Is it God's purpose to deal with that. My prof in a class was talking about "where did God go during the Eden story" - oh sorry - you're the most important thing in the world now? Every single little need ever humans have must be met? "HEY HEY I JUST SHOT MYSELF AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT". WHINERS all of you.
I don't care about anything you think about God, if it's reasonable you wont assume the Divine Creator's PURPOSE is to cater to every little need of the creation. Hell if that were true I don't think physics would work. Honestly. I mean - God would just make things happen as they should molecule by molecule, quark by quark. Someone falling to their death? NO PROBLEM he'll FLOAT. That's the concept of a God who's out to fix all of your petty problems. Instead - this deity lets you fall... why?
Well - firstly - it's not His problem. This gives a version of "not caring". But I mean - no matter what happens - I will never be able to fully grasp the concept of starvation. I mean I can UNDERSTAND it, but not grasp it. "My God my God why have you forsaken me". "Oh Father what is this thing called pain that you have created and how terrible it is". Ok - I am interpreting the dying scream of Jesus, but hey, what would a pretentious blogger be without overstepping their bounds. It's all your fault for reading this stuff.
Secondly - it's our fault. Perhaps this is the horrible horrible cliche excuse but it serves. God is thinking "they'll figure it out, if they all start to die I can help". Anything else would stop the species from being apart from God. And as I've realized - the only way for there to ever be more love than God is something other than God.
