A new concept but an oldie
It has been 5 years since highschool. And the 6th year from highschool is just beginning. I know, I am in my second term of second year. But that's exactly it.Year one: Summer after Highschool
Year two: First Term
Year three: Second term
Year four: Summer term of first year
Year five: First term second Year
Year six: Second term second Year (current term at the time of this writing)
OK - why is this remotely possible? Because it's how things have changed.
After highschool definitely did not feel like highschool, it felt different, there were changes and shit to be done. And then I went to university, sure it was still 2006 but it was also a new year. I had a new home, a new schedule, new people to meet, a whole new way of observing the world. DAMN there was a change. And seriously - it was DIFFERENT.
Then along came the winter. It *was* a new year, and it damn will was different. New place, new people, new schedule. Summer - new home, old people, new schedule. And so on. The calander has arbitrary time constraints setup in order to keep them there. In order for them to be fixed. It's to facilitate communication. But when I don't sleep for 72 hours it feels like a single day, despite the fact that it's three. Sounds crazy, but it's completely 100% logical.
A "Cycle" is made up of - A distinct change of the character of the time period, or a distinct separation between two time periods.
An "Artificial Cycle" is made of of - an arbitrary turning point or changeover without a required clear break between them. What separates the seconds? Nothing. What separates the seconds for the school child between the ringing of the recess bell and before - disappointment.
Does this make sense? Well - yes. We need to be able to say "I will meet you in an hour". Or "that was three years ago". Sure - to some people three years ago is 2005 but to me, it's this last winter.
Crazy? Yes. Logical? Yes.
Just don't try to implement THAT definiton of the calander - the discordian one is bad enough.
